Twelve points on you licence and out in F1?

The FIA is to discuss a new Superlicence penalty points system with F1 teams in Brazil next week. The system would operate in a similar way to the road system in the UK, with drivers who commit offences facing grid penalties or missed races under a totting up procedure.

After taking its first grand prix win for four years with Kimi Raikkonen in Abu Dhabi, the Enstone, UK-based Lotus team is expecting to have more power for the first US Grand Prix to be held at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas this weekend.

Valsecchi tops final day in Abu Dhabi

GP2 champion Davide Valsecchi set the quickest time of the Abu Dhabi Young Driver test's final day at Yas Marina in the race-winning Lotus E20. The 25-year-old Italian lapped just 0.02s slower than the quickest time of the week set by Dane Kevin Magussen in the McLaren on the opening day of the test.

Abiteboul is new Caterham team principal

With Tony Fernandes standing down as Caterham team principal to devote more time to his other business interests, the team has promoted Cyril Abiteboul to the role with immediate effect. He will combine the task with his current position as CEO, which he took up in September.
