The revived Spyker F1 team is to have a major test in mid-November to try to decide who will join Adrian Sutil in the team next year. The young German has a contract with the team and new owner Vijay Mallya says he wants to keep Sutil.

The F1 team principals met on Saturday morning in Sao Paulo and we hear that there was significant progress in the much-discussed matter of customer cars. This is of key importance for two reasons: firstly because of the arbitration going on with regard to the use of customer cars by Scuderia Toro Rosso and Super Aguri F1.

Vijay Mallya, the new owner of Spyker F1, says that he wants to call the team Force India F1. The cars will be known as Force Indias.

Felipe Massa set the fastest time of the morning session on Saturday in Brazil, a tenth of a second faster than the impressive Lewis Hamilton and Massa's Ferrari team-mate Kimi Raikkonen. Fernando Alonso was eighth quickest in his McLaren, six-tenths slower than his team-mate.

Lewis Hamilton may never have visited Interlagos before, but even that does not stop him these days. At the end of running on Friday afternoon Hamilton was a tenth faster than Fernando Alonso, and the two McLarens were three tenths clear of the best Ferrari, driven by the local hero Felipe Massa.

The FIA Stewards have ruled that Lewis Hamilton should be penalised for using two sets of wet tyres on Friday morning - but the fine of $22,000 and a voluntary agreement to surrender the partially-worn wets to the FIA so that they cannot be used.

There are problems for Lewis Hamilton at the Brazilian Grand Prix. After the end of the first practice session, the FIA Technical Delegate Jo Bauer reported to the FIA Stewards that Lewis Hamilton, Takuma Sato and Jenson Button had all used two sets in the session.

The first practice session of the Brazilian Grand Prix resulted in a 1-2 for Ferrari with World Championship challenger Kimi Raikkonen four-tenths of a second clear of local hero and last year's winner Felipe Massa.
