There are reports that Williams has turned down a $21m offer from Jenson Button and BAR for the release of the British driver from his Williams contract in 2006 and 2007. This is interesting in that it confirms suggestions that Williams has decided that Button does have a price tag.

Alas poor Kimi! A fellow of infinite speed and yet one who seems to have Lady Luck against him at every turn. No matter what he does, someone else comes along and messes things up. At Spa he was brilliant. And he won in dominant fashion.

The Rotterdam newspaper Het Algemene Dagblad this morning published a story suggesting that Christijan Albers has signed a two-year deal with Midland F1.

Jean Todt was his usual graceless self over the news that Paul Stoddart has sold Minardi to Red Bull. The Ferrari boss said that he did not think Stoddart has contributed anything to Formula 1. Todt presumably does not like what Stoddart has done in recent months to isolate Ferrari in F1 politics

Dan Wheldon will soon become the first British driver to win the Indy Racing League title. Wheldon won his sixth victory of the year at the Chicagoland circuit on Sunday and now is virtually assured of the title.

As the Formula 1 teams were packing up at Spa on Sunday afternoon word came from Switzerland that Nick Heidfeld has injured his shoulder while riding a mountain bike in the town of Stafa in Switzerland. It seems that Nick was in collision with a motorcycle.

Takuma Sato has been given a 10 grid slot penalty in Brazil for taking Michael Schumacher out at the Belgian Grand Prix. Sato made a mess at the restart and ran into the back of the Ferrari.

It is not hard to understand that feelings between Michelin and the FIA have been running high since the mess at Indianapolis back in June and the dispute reared its head again at Spa where Michelin chairman Edouard Michelin had another pop at FIA President Max Mosley and Mosley responded.

Juan Pablo Montoya took pole position for the Belgian Grand Prix with the Formula 1 circus watching the skies wondering what the weather was going to do and pondering also what would happen in the race on Sunday.

Red Bull has announced that an agreement was reached whereby, from November 1 Red Bull GmbH will take over all the company shares of the Minardi Formula 1 team and will be responsible for running the team.

The question of whether Jenson Button joins Williams or stays at BAR-Honda in 2006 and 2007 remains a subject of much discussion in the F1 paddock although neither side is giving much away about the negotiations which are taking place at the moment.

Red Bull has bought the Minardi F1 team from Paul Stoddart. The agreement was reached on Saturday at Spa between the Australian entrepreneur and Red Bull's Dietrich Mateschitz.

The Michelin announcement that it is to supply Renault, McLaren, BMW, BAR Honda and Red Bull Ferrari will be made in a couple of hours from now while Bridgestone will be supplying Ferrari, Jordan Toyota, Minardi, Toyota and Williams Cosworth.
