Dutch driver Christian Albers will have a Formula 1 test with Jordan in September.

Johnny Herbert and Marc Gene are to join the Minardi driver line-up for the forthcoming F1x2 Charity Grand Prix at Kyalami in South Africa.

Sauber has signed a new long-term deal with Bridgestone for Formula 1 tyres. The news has yet to be announced but follows rumours that Sauber was talking with rival tyre firm Michelin.

There have been stories in recent days about British hopeful Gary Paffett getting a chance to drive a Sauber later this year and our sources say that it is quite likely.

The current discussions over the rules are already costing teams considerable amounts of money because anyone who has pushed ahead and made preparations for the 2005 season may have to throw away most of the work that has been done.

A1 Grand Prix has appointed John Wickham to be its Technical Operations Advisor to oversee the testing programme of the new Lola-built A1 car. Wickham (54) will bring years of experience to the role, having started out in motor racing 30 years ago.
